From Script to Screen: The Making of a Demo video with COJOT’s Steerable Beam Antenna

Towards the end of July 2024, Alaris COJOT collaborated with a local client on a two-day video shoot in Imatra, Finland, to showcase COJOT’s Steerable Beam Antenna in an automated Surveillance Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance system.

The shoot, which spanned over three locations around the city, aimed to produce raw material for a demonstration video using a Steerable Beam Antenna in a real-life scenario – the surveillance of areas with denied access and detection of intruders.

Day one began with a team meeting to review the script and locations.  After a brief coffee break, the team moved to the first site, where the COJOT Steerable Beam Antenna, the SBA2456XDB in this instance, was set up next to a drone launch area. The required equipment and cameras were also set up and positioned effectively to capture the scene and launch of the drone.

After lunch, the team filmed at a second location, focusing on additional drone shots and a car chase scene to enhance the video’s narrative.

Day two started with a recap of the first day's successes. The team returned to the initial industrial location to film an unauthorized car entering a restricted area, where the antenna's directional capabilities were key in maintaining secure communication links with the drone.

The final set was shot at the Vuokse river, capturing drone footage that demonstrated the SBA's ability to extend control range and limit signal exposure to unwanted directions. This feature is particularly advantageous in complex environments, enhancing both operational efficiency and security. The shoot concluded with a final meeting where the team reviewed the footage before heading back for post-production.
